Established Tom Quinn in 2007, WineCourse.ie was founded on a simple idea – ‘to provide wine information and knowledge for every level of wine enthusiast and professional in a fun, friendly and engaging environment’.Back in 2006/07 many wine tastings and courses were being pitched at the wine drinking elite where some prior knowledge was required. This alienated the majority of Irish wine drinkers which Tom had many opportunities to interact with at various tastings and presentations. Having identified this gap in the market Tom set about making wine information and knowledge much more accessible to Ireland's wine drinking public.
Tom tailored a specific course for novice wine drinkers with little or no experience. This first course became known as our “One Day Wine Appreciation Course” and has since been referred to by many as a ‘wine course for people who don’t know much about wine but know what they like’.
The “One Day Wine Appreciation Course” has been refined a number of times since 2007 based on our customers valued feedback and also to integrate emerging trends within the wine world. We are very proud of this course and the others we have on offer and thanks to the support and feedback of our clients we continue to grow and expand, offering more and more wine courses around Ireland.
Since then Tom & the WineCourse.ie team have expanded their services to include additional course types and formats, social wine nights and formally accredited wine courses.
WineCourse.ie is also an Approved Programme Provider (APP) for the WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust, London).
The WSET design courses, produce teaching and learning materials and set examinations, working through a network of registered centres (Approved Programme Providers) around the world.
