Tom Quinn

Tom_Quinn_April_2011WineCourse.ie was established by Tom Quinn due to the increasing demand for people to know more about the wines they are drinking. Tom has been involved with wine for many years, covering all aspects of the industry from wholesale, including product management and training, to retail, where he has been responsible for product marketing and designing corporate wine packages, and finally (and most importantly) enjoying wine as a hobby himself!

The Formal Bit:

A WSET (Wines & Spirit Education Trust, London) graduate himself, Tom has taught wine courses for many different bodies around Ireland. He can list The Wine Development Board, Carry Out Off Licence Group, Galway Mayo Institute of Technology, & Galway Technical Institute as current and past clients. Tom has also tutored teams in numerous Hotels & Restaurants around Ireland.

Tom has furthered his knowledge of wines and the industry from planting of vines through to production & bottling by visiting and working with wineries in Australia, New Zealand, Spain & France. Further to this he has also made wine throughout France in Chablis, Champagne and the Languedoc. Tom has written about wine for various local and national media in Ireland and has also contributed to many trade publications.

The Fun Bit:

Favourite Wine: Well if I'm wearing my 'wine-nerd' cap it would have to be Riesling for white or Grenache for red, but I'm very much of the opinion that the best wine is that enjoyed in great company with the best of family and friends.

Desert Island Essential: iPod and some great tunes.

Favouite Sport: Rugby & Athletics as a spectator sport, fan of the gym and swimming myself.

Last Supper: This is a tough one - Seafood for sure, maybe Monkfish with a black olive tapenade?
